As more stories get published, we'll be adding pages. To start with, here's a story our director wrote when he was 13.

Nice Day

Shirley shivered silently against the brisk Virginia morning air. Even early October was cold enough to hurt when you're homeless and have no coat. "Homeless..." she thought. "Never thought it'd happen to me. Oh well, at least I'm strong enough to make it to Florida before it gets too much colder."
"Ouch!" she cried as she cut her finger on a broken glass bottle. There was no food in the top part of the dumpster, so she had to dig deeply. She licked her finger clean and carefully sifted around the glass.
"What's this?" she thought, as her hand touched something rough and thick. She reached in and pulled out a heavy wool overcoat with only a few holes in it. Immediately, she put it on. It was big and roomy. "Oh good, " she thought, "now I will be warm outside!"
As she climbed out of the dumpster, she saw an old homeless man she had seen before walking toward the dumpster. He was shaking with cold as he wrapped his tattered shirt around himself, but still he managed a toothless grin as he said hello to her. Shirley took off the wool coat and without a word, she put it over the old man's shoulders. As she walked away she thought, "Oh good, now I will be warm inside."
