A Salute To KidPub
by Monika Bough

KidPub, KidPub,
You're even better than a club,
And I agree with many others,
This page is for kids and not for mothers!

As everyone has done,
I discovered this page and won,
Years and years of fun!

So, I am writing this poem,
As a salute to you,
I hope when you read it,
You'll yell "YAHOO!"

If You Follow The Rainbow
by Monika Bough

Red, yellow, green, and blue,
Are what makes a rainbow true.
Follow the rainbow to the other end,
And you'll find the rainbow bend.
So, follow the rainbow to a pot of gold,
It'll bring you luck, and behold,
Another rainbow in the pot of gold!

The Cheetah and The Toucan
by Monika Bough

Once upon a time in a jungle in Africa there lived a cheetah and a toucan. The cheetah could run as fast as lighting, but its friend, the toucan, couldn't fly any faster than a snail could slime the ground.

One day the cheetah, knowing it would win, decided to race against the slow toucan. So, he said with his Jamaican accent, "Toucan, toucan won't you like to race against me, man_" The toucan had his doubts, but decided to race under one condition, the cheetah was not to run until the toucan was halfway finished with the race. The cheetah agreed.

That night the cheetah attended his sister's 12th birthday party. So, instead of resting for the upcoming day, he partied the night away.

The next day everyone was ready for the big race. Animals came from all over the world. A gray wolf had brought her cubs all the way from Europe. Another surprising guest was a rattle snake from Canada. Yup, everyone was ready for the race, except the cheetah. He had been up all night partying and now he was as tired as a slug!

BANG went the gun! The toucan was off! It was the fastest everyone had seen him go! In the meantime the cheetah was snoring himself to sleep!

"YEAH!" shouted the crowd, the toucan had won! He had taken advantage of the sleeping cheetah and had crossed the finish line way before the cheetah had even woken up! The cheetah ran towards the finish line, it didn't take him very long, and yelled, "CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm nothing like the hare!

Bigfoot On Ice
by Monika Bough

Once upon a time there lived a giant named Big Foot. Big Foot was a child's nigtmare, but an adult's fantasy. Big Foot had fans and enemies. Big Foot was dreamed to be both a terror and a masterpiece, but he thought of himself as a regular person with a shoe size of 120.

One day Big Foot's mother, Little Shoe, climed up her son's shoe and yelled to him, "You know Big Foot, there is an ice skating cotest at the public rink tonight!" Big Foot, who loved ice skating, shouted with glee.

At exatly 7:45 Big Foot and Little Shoe climbed into their 70 ft. long jeep. When they arrived at the ice skating rink Big Foot put on his ice skates and got in the rink and started to skate. By this time everyone had cleared the rink and was either watching in amazement or crying their eyes out. Big Foot, noticing all the judges had their eyes fixed on him, did a double axil and landed safely on the ground. He then proceeded to ice skate very fast around the entire rink. To his surprose the judges held up big signs that had 10 written on them in huge letters. Then one of the judges got up and laid a golden trophy on Big Foot's jacket. Big Foot had won!

When he got home he showed his trophy to his sister, Small Foot, and his father, Big Shoe. His sister gave him a look that said who cares, then all of a sudden her expression changed and she huged his foot! His father right away said, "I knew you could do it!"

The Earth
by Monika Bough

The sun, the moon, the stars in the sky,
They make up our world, that is no lie.
The ocean, the fish, the crabs, and the sand,
They were made for the Earth: our planet, and our land.

The Way I See School
by Monika Bough

Chalkboards, pencils, teachers, hallways,
It's in my worst nightmare and my everyday schedule,
There's no way to stop it, 'cause I'll have to go, always,
And as much as I will push and pull,
My parents'll drag me to my school.
And when the days over they'll say "That wasn't so bad",
But they wouldn't be talking if they knew the day I had.

When Animals Took Ballet
by Monika Bough

One day in the San Diego Zoo Jennifer Giraffe (the smartest animal in the zoo) said to herself, "Wouldn't it be fun if Susie Elephant and I learned to dance the fine art of ballet_" So she said her question out loud and to her surprise Susie agreed.

The next day Susie and Jennifer asked Harry Hippopatumus, the most graceful animal in the zoo, if he could teach them some steps. Unfortunately, he said that he had not been keeping up with Jenny Craig and was much too bloated to even consider teaching ballet. Next they tried Sarah the Butterfly, but Sarah, old and fragile, could not hear them because her hearing aid had fallen out.

Going back to their homes they heard a beautiful voice saying some big words in a foreign language. Then they saw a bunch of animals squatting on the ground in a graceful way. Sarah said loud enough for all the animals to hear, "Gosh!! Can't you guys think of a better place to mark your territory_" Everyone giggled and told Sarah and Jennifer that they were dancing ballet. Then Jennifer asked in a very polite voice, "Can we join you_" Miss Swan, the teacher said sure, but Sarah and Jennifer had doubts. How could anyone so ungraceful as Miss Swan teach ballet_ Despite their doubts they joined the group and had lots of fun.

When they were done they asked Miss Swan what language she was speaking in and what she was saying and she said, "I don't know! But it sure was fun teaching it!"

The Craziest Story Ever
by Monika Bough

Once upon a time an apple ate a bird.
A cat liked a dog.
An elephant clipped his toenails.
The world went home.
An idea popped into a frog's heart.
A lion was a mom.
At night an owl slept.
The drums were the queen's favorite music.
A rainbow knew how to sing and think.
People used umbrellas in the shower.
Once upon a time in my imagination

THE WEIRD NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR
by Monika Bough

I have a next door neighbor,
He never talks to me,
He doesn't make much sense, as far as I can see.

He hits his cat,
Then screams at a mat,
He even has a pet bat.

Some may think he's cool,
But I'm no fool,
He acts too into himself,
You'd think he owned a pool.

I'll tell you more about this guy,
I'll also tell you this is no lie,
My next door neighbor is really weird,
It's all because he can't say HI!

Peace On Earth
by Monika Bough

Peace is important in different ways,
Peace on this earth will make happy days,
Peace in your head will make you love each other,
Peace in your heart will make everyone your sister or brother,
Peace will help us to live on this earth,
To have peace I'd give all that I'm worth.

With peace by my side I can do what I want,
With peace in my life I can live like I want,
Without the peace that helps us all,
Our world will collapse in a great big fall.

Be in peace with everyone,
By dropping your gun!

Just You And Me
by Monika Bough

Just you and me,
Can't you see_
Just you and me,
It's a great place to be.

It's a place to cry,
It's a place to sigh,
It's a place for just you and me,
It's a great place to be.

It's not for anyone else, but us,
It's not a place to make a fuss,
It's just for you and me,
It's a great place to be.

Whenever you want to laugh or cry,
I'll be there, it's not a lie,
This special place is for just you and me,
It's a great place to be.

Trees
by Monika Bough

Trees, trees,
Swinging in the breeze,
Trees, trees,
Some can make you sneeze,
Trees, trees,
With lots and lots of leaves,
Trees, trees,
They look like they're saying "Hi",
Or could they be saying "Bye"_

Clocks
by Monika Bough

Tick-Tock goes the clock,
Tells the time so you won't be late,
Tells the time to put on a sock,
Tells the time when others ate,
Tells the time and goes tick-tock.

The Bustle Of The City
by Monika Bough

The busy streets,
The busy eats,
Bustle, bustle, bustle.

The stoplight's red,
No one's in bed,
Bustle bustle bustle.

People driving red cars,
People eating candy bars,
Bustle, bustle, bustle.

People walking,
People talking,
Bustle, bustle, bustle.

Everyone's in a rush,
Looks like someone lost their brush,
Bustle, bustle, bustle.

Highway 5 is full of cars,
People file into bars,
Bustle, bustle, bustle.

I like the city, no doubt about that,
But too much bustle can blow off one's hat!

Soy Un Tigre
de Monika Bough

Soy un tigre feroz,
Filosas son mis garras.
Mato a mis presas,
Y hago mucha fama.
Mis rayas son negras,
Y me esconde bien en el pasto.
Mi presa no me ve...
ˇY pronto estará muerto!
